About Therapy

Thank you for your desire to know me and what I do. May God bless you!

You don’t want to do therapy.

I get it. It’s time-consuming, expensive, embarrassing… and it’s that humbling realization that “I can’t do it myself.”

You’re not alone – I’ve been there myself.

I’ve been to therapy for my problems. I committed, paid the price (literally), and saw the benefits.

And now… you should, too.

Offering you an oasis – a home away from home…

Forget those drab office buildings that speak of banks, businesses, and boredom. That’s everything my wife and I were trying to AVOID when looking for the perfect location.

Situated right behind one of the busiest Chick-fil-A’s in the city (bring me a large waffle fries with three Polynesian sauces, please!) is a small neighborhood of little homes. We’re situated in the back corner of that little community of small businesses… in Building Z.

Come on in… and make yourself at home. Before you come to the office, I invite you to stop in the kitchen for coffee, tea, or your favorite soda. As you enter the office, you’ll feel what I feel every day: peace, tranquility, and rich silence (although I might have some storm sounds playing on my Google smart speaker).

My wife and I picked the couches to have a 50s-style Americana feel, so it’s like being in your grandma’s cozy living room. And I think you’ll find the intentionally chosen blues and grays of the room soothing. I’m not surprised anymore when I hear “wow” about how comfortable it feels!

And in case you forgot or were too shy to get a drink, I have my own personal “caffeine corner” of which you can partake. The best part: It’s better than Starbucks and reimbursable with most insurances (just kidding).

Making you feel comfortable – like this is the place for you…

I know the power of connecting (or not!) with a therapist. When there is that right connection – you feel safer and more confident in opening up your heart and life.

I have found that the secret to the success of humility is, despite any desire to “have clients” or make money, admitting when I can and can’t help you. Let me make this promise to you: if you don’t feel comfortable with me, I will make it my mission to help you find the right therapist for you. What is most important to me is your growth, healing, and improvement as a person.

Helping you explore yourself and your life…

I’ll ask you different types of questions. And no matter what you have to say, I’ll LISTEN to your answers.

I’ll be listening to your words and reflecting on the patterns of behavior that I see from the details of your life experience that you give me.

I’m here to help you gain understanding and insight beyond just a diagnosis or “getting rid of an issue.” I want you to delve into the more important questions about WHY you have those issues in the first place… or HOW you can stop a particular pattern of behavior in its tracks.

It’s not easy work, but it’s beautiful work… because you get to keep the fruits of your labor for the rest of your life.

I challenge you to see your therapy sessions as the tip of the iceberg, with the work you do in your daily life being where most of the change, healing, and learning occurs.

Working with you to find your missing puzzle piece…

It could be anything:

Identifying generations of family patterns…

Seeing holes that your father or mother left…

Understanding your true personality…

Finding a real and vivid relationship with God

We won’t know what we will find until we journey together. The first step is up to you.

About Me

I’ve gone through the work of therapy myself.

I’ve experienced many of the methods and theories.

I’ve challenged my thought patterns, learned new skills, and received healing and freedom from my faith.

What I experienced through therapy was so powerful that it inspired me to become one myself – to help others understand themselves and find their missing puzzle piece.

When I’m not doing therapy…

I enjoy watching movies with my wife and mountain biking with my teenage stepson in canyons and forests.

You might also find me praying in a chapel… or recording videos for my YouTube channel (I’m now up to more than 13k subscribers!).

And, of course, don’t be surprised if you see me doing my favorite pastime: EATING! 🙂
